Resolutions


Last year was a brilliant year for The Quiet Resolution. In January the blog was still really in its infancy and although we had already had some amazing experiences at the latter end of 2016 - I don't think we were prepared for the whirlwind of the year to come.

I know it's a bit of a cliche but it is incredible how lucky we have been and it's overwhelming to have worked with some of the brands we have. 2017 has included our first taste of being paid to blog, press trips, award nominations with of course lots of prosecco and canapes. We worked really hard to improve all of our photography, learnt how to use analytics properly and balanced work, university, blogging and life better than ever. 

At the end of 2017, we had a long overdue meeting and sat down to discuss our goals for the year ahead. Our resolutions for ourselves and of course for TQR. Rather than giving you them at the start of the month, we thought we would wait a bit and see how we have been getting on so far with our goals and resolutions individually and as a blog. 


TQR Goals & Resolutions for 2018
  • Make more time for team meetings - at least one big meeting a month. So far we have had one really great meeting and photography day which left us really pumped up and inspired. We have another meeting planned for next week and we are having weekly phone meetings to catch up on smaller details. 
  • Continue to improve photo quality (less dodgy iPhone photos). This resolution already began at the end of 2017 and we are so happy with the content we have produced this month. The images are cleaner and our Instagram feed is something we are now so much more proud of. 
  • Work together on blog posts and content more. We absolutely always do our best work when we sit down the three of us and work on a project. This is something we have been doing with blog posts, being more collaborative with content. Hopefully, within the next month, we will get to work physically together a lot more. 
  • Stick to our blog schedule better - no excuses! So far so good with this one, but only time will tell if we can keep it up. Proud of our efforts so far though!
  • Introduce more food and cooking content into the blog. We all love to cook and eat so it is crazy that we don't do more content that reflects this. This resolution hasn't really started yet, give us a few more weeks to get organised and you will be seeing lots of amazing food and drinks all over TQR!
Lyndsey's Goals & Resolutions for 2018
  • To be kinder to myself. I am so critical of everything I do and I really believe it ends up having a reverse effect when you are trying to achieve something. I have been doing pretty well with this so far - forgiving myself on bad days and not sweating the small stuff. May this please continue as I can feel the difference in my overall mood.
  • Get healthier, slimmer and happier the right way. I spoke about this a little on an Instagram post a few days ago. I have struggled with my weight and general health since I was a teenager and it is something that I would really like to get under control this year. In the last three weeks, I can see positive changes in my choices and I am hoping this is the beginning of an amazing year for me.
  • Delete Uber, Just Eat & Deliveroo apps from my phone. I have been amazing with Just Eat and Deliveroo the only place I have slipped is Uber - must be better and stronger!

Toni's Goals & Resolutions for 2018
  • Graduate! The only thing I have in my sights at the moment is pushing through the next few months of uni so that I can (hopefully) get a first class honours degree. It's easy to lose enthusiasm for this one when there is so much to do in such a short period of time, but I am determined to keep that first in my sights.
  • Be the best Maid of Honour. I want to make sure that I do everything I can to make my sisters wedding day exceed her expectations. I know this isn't really a goal but her wedding is going to be the biggest and most significant day of 2018 for my family so a lot of my time and thoughts will be going into making it an amazing day.
  • Get my dream job. This one is a bit of an exaggeration. I'm not experienced enough to know what my dream job is yet but so long as I can find a job that makes me happy, I will be able to check this one off the list. 

Zoƫ's Goals & Resolutions for 2018

  • Save, Save, Save. I am fully addicted to shopping. It fills me with pure joy which I know sounds ridiculous and you may laugh but it's getting to the point now where I need to get it under control because of the scary graduation/end of uni life is coming swiftly towards me. So far I've stopped buying food every day and meal planning/using Hello Fresh, I resisted the sales (how I don't know) and I've got a saving plan. I also deleted Uber which was a tragic habit and horrific amounts of money were going into it.
  • Build better relationships. Last year was a really difficult year for me when a lot of unexpected things happened I couldn't control and everyone was there for me every step of the way. I can be quite a removed person and push people away which is a terrible trait I want to get rid of. So far I've made more of an effort to organise things to do with friends, see my family more and made more of an effort to see people I don't see enough which I already feel so much happier about so I'm starting the year stronger than I was before!
  • Graduate. This is basically a goal I've had since I can remember. Nobody in my family has been to University and all I want to do is make them all proud. I'm determined to throw everything I can into this final semester so I'm hoping it'll continue and I'll be standing on that stage cheesing/crying most likely because I've actually made it. So far it's been terribly rocky but it's all absolutely fine.
